It’s Sunday night and we’re now back home from our South American vacation, more tired out than when we left! And that’s a good thing! We had a fantastic time, and now have a lot to do to catch up: unpack, go thru mail, photos/video from the trip, go thru souvenirs, write thank you and other emails, etc: but not tonight.
For now, just doing a quick post saying we are back. We were off the ship this morning in Ft. Lauderdale at 7:45am, and only a short half hour or so after baggage retrieval, customs lines etc. we were in a cab to the airport to pick up our rental car. There were 8 mega ships in Ft. Lauderdale this morning, and the entire staff and crew of our ship, the Infinity, had to go thru immigration, but the waits were not too long even still. The cruise staff were assigned separate lines from passengers, and I felt for them as we were going home, but they were merely passing thru to work another cruise. As it had been more than six months since the ship had been out of the country, the entire cruise ship crew were required to go thru immigration as this was the first U.S. port.
We rented a large SUV at National car rental, and took turns driving the nearly 4 hours back to home in Orlando. We dropped the car back off at the airport, and are now home trying to re-adjust to life without our wonderful Butler ‘Ram’, stateroom attendant ‘Efraim’, and concierge ‘Lenny’, We’re going out for dinner now, but it won’t be in the elegant U.S. United States restaurant from the ship!
I have a lot to catch up on the blog, and will do so over the next few days. Internet coverage was pretty slow
on the ship, but most of all we were having such a good time I didn’t keep up as much as I thought I would blogging.
Until later . . . welcome home ‘Steve’s!
