The Traveling Steve's

Hot, hot, hot in Nachitoches

Left the house this morning at 7:20am for my 9:10am flight on American from Orlando to Dallas (DFW).   I had a good and non-eventful breakfast flight in First Class aisle seat 5B on a Boeing 737-800 series.  The legroom was very good, but this was an older model 737 that didn’t have the new seatback entertainment option or the bigger overhead bins like the one I was on last week from MCO to ORD.  Took a short nap on the 2 1/2 hour flight after breakfast and arrived into Dallas slightly late at 11:10am.  Took the very crowded tram from terminal C to terminal B, and arrived at my connection flight to Alexandria, Louisiana right before boarding.

The connection flight was on a commuter Embraer 145 all coach jet that you had to duck your head down to keep from hitting the ceiling.  I was in seat 5A which was a lone seat in the 1 X 2 seat configuration.  The hour flight went quickly, and as I haven’t been here before, took a few photos as we were about to land. IMG_4258I rented a Ford Escape from National Car Rental and drove for an hour to IMG_4261the Hampton Inn in Nachitoches, where I’m staying this week.  After staying in the Hyatt Orlando this weekend, the Hampton is not quite the same experience, (LOL!) but it’s the best hotel around this area so it will have to do.

Nachitoches is a quaint historic and college town, and is the oldest parish in Louisiana. I drove around the town for a bit passing several Bed and Breakfasts, Northwestern State University, IMG_4272and some beautiful homes.IMG_4273

I’ll be here all week on business, and then flying to Tampa for this upcoming weekend.
