It’s Wednesday night, and this has been a busy, but good week here in Milwaukee. I’ve worked late the last couple nights, so not much to report, other than I’m looking forward to this Memorial Day weekend. Dos and I are going to Sonoma, CA for the 3 day weekend, and I can’t wait! Friday will be a busy travel day for me as I’ll fly back to Orlando from Milwaukee (via ORD on American), and without leaving the airport, checking back in and flying to Sacramento via Charlotte on USAirways (technically American now). Hopefully all of the flights will be on time; will find out in a couple days!
Speaking of flights, my connecting flight from Dallas (see last post) to Milwaukee was good; i.e. uneventful and normal. I have been to Milwaukee before, but I don’t remember ever flying here. No, I don’t work for Rockwell; this was just a welcoming sign in the airport I saw, along with this plane hanging from the ceiling of the terminal.
The last time I was in Milwaukee was with Dos for a weekend getaway while I was taking class in Chicago and he came up to meet me. We had a good weekend, staying downtown and taking a ‘boat and brew tour’, as well as a separate boat trip on Lake Michigan. On the boat and brew cruise, we visited 3 different venues and sampled 6 pint-sized cups of micro-brews.
We met some fun people, including this couple and their daughter who was home visiting them. Wow – could that Mom put away her beer! At least until after the last stop when we saw her husband and daughter holding her up as they walked back to their hotel!
Dos was doing great until the last brew I gave him – a double IPA! 20120714_130510.jpg
We really enjoyed the downtown area of Milwaukee.
We stayed at the Doubletree downtown, which was close enough to walk to the boats and lots of other restaurants downtown.
We took the boat cruise around Lake Michigan the next day and had a wonderful time sightseeing the city from the water.
Unfortunately this week I’m here for work, and not much free time to play.
Now I’m heading to bed shortly. Hopefully I will get a better night’s sleep tonight. I’m staying at the Hyatt Place West, which is right by the 45 freeway, and was quite noisy last night with the road construction I could view out my window. I drove through it on the way to my hotel last night, and the exit ramp to the hotel was actually closed due to the construction. I kept hearing a beep-beep-beep all night from the construction trucks moving about. I got my earplugs out tonight just in case!
