So we had a really fun and relaxing weekend in Roanoke after a good night’s rest from getting in so late. Dos and I stayed at the new Hilton Garden Inn Roanoke, as well as my parents. We set them up with a King suite so they could be comfortable and not have to cook, clean, or drive back and forth to their house 45 minutes away from my brother Andy’s place. The hotel sits high upon a hill overlooking the Roanoke Valley, as the pic below shows from the parking lot. I grew up in Roanoke and always love coming back to see the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in the distance.
My sister Jenni and her husband Lawrence, and teenage daughter Nikki (from Maryland) stayed at nearby Andy’s house, as did my cousin Patty who had flown in from California. It really worked out well as we were all staying within a mile of each other, so it made it easy to come and go throughout the weekend.
On Saturday night, we had an informal Mexican dinner at Abuelo’s near Valley View Mall. They seated our group of 10 in the center of the dining room, and we had great service
with our meal. As Dos and I are still working on our diets (and losing weight too I might add), we opted for the lower carb fajitas which were very good. Dos even showed off his bunny ears!
After dinner, we headed out and went back to Andy’s house. For not only was it Mom and Dad’s 60th anniversary, but my ‘baby’ sister Jenni had just turned 50 and we couldn’t let that slide by! Or should I say glide by as she was gifted this inflatable walker by my brother Andy.
