The Traveling Steve's

Round-about way to Sacramento

My travel day started out early, with a 7am flight from Milwaukee to Chicago.  Before the day was done, I would be in five different airports, so I thought I’d take a couple pics along the way to document the adventure.  My first stop was at the Milwaukee airport:  Say cheese!  IMG_3694

This short half hour flight was followed by a flight from Chicago home to Orlando, which unfortunately was delayed two hours.  I actually had two separate flight reservations today; the MKE to MCO was a return work flight on American Airlines, while the other flight to Sacramento (via CLT) was a personal flight on USAirways (now AA), that Dos and I were taking for Memorial Day weekend. I relaxed in the Admirals Club in O’hare for a while, IMG_3710and as I was going to my gate, took this picture of US and Military branch Flags in honor of Memorial Day. IMG_3709

Dos met me at the airport in Orlando for our flight to CLT and then Sacramento, and we only had an hour to spare.  IMG_2984I was really getting concerned I would miss the flight out of Orlando, which would have been a mess getting it rebooked on this holiday weekend.  Fortunately we made the flight, and didn’t get delayed out of Orlando due to potential thunderstorms.

So my flights for the day were: American:  MKE  to ORD,  ORD to MCO, MCO to CLT, and CLT to SFM.  It made for quite a long day, but fortunately I/we had First Class on all the flights, with the exception of the short puddle-jumper flight from MKE to ORD.  Here is Dos in the Charlotte Admirals Club on our quick layover before heading to Sacramento.IMG_3716

The Charlotte to Sacramento flight was quite long at a bit over 5 hours, but thanks to inflight internet, meal service, drinks etc, it went by fairly quickly.  IMG_3730

We got to Sacramento airport around 9pm PST, IMG_2985

and fortunately all our bags made it.  I remember this unusual artwork design at baggage claim of lots of different types of suitcases, all stacked on top of one another.  After getting our luggage, we then took a hotel shuttle bus to the logo_brand_GIHilton Garden Inn.   We will get a rental car in the morning, and then drive up to Sonoma for the holiday weekend. Now settled in, and looking forward to a fun and relaxing weekend in wine country after a long travel day!

Welcome to California!IMG_3738
