The Traveling Steve's

Spring forward 2019!

I’ve gotten way behind in blogging lately as this year has been so busy. I last left off on our snowmobiling adventure in Lapland, Finland, which was way back in early February. I still have to finish the posts for that trip, and we haven’t even gotten to Singapore yet! Don’t worry we went there and back; here’s a sneak preview from the Chinese New Year celebrations:

Anyway, just a quick post to say Steve (DOS) and I are alive and well. I will try to catch up on posting this weekend, as we will be home. I’ve had a couple business trips since the last post; one to the metro Washington D.C. area, and another to a conference in Houston. The D.C. trip was nice as it snowed one day and the city basically shut down, allowing us to see a couple of the memorials in the snow.

In Houston I was in conference all week, so I didn’t have an opportunity to venture out except for dinner. I stayed at the very nice Hilton Houston Americas, which reminded me of the Orlando Hyatt Convention Center as it was so huge, with acres of conference space in downtown Houston.

Well, back here now in Florida, like most of the nation, we changed clocks last weekend – so we “sprung forward”. We have an extra hour of daylight, which makes the days feel longer. And at least to us, that’s a good thing!

We also had an enjoyable time-change weekend, as DOS and I had a stay-cation at the Hyatt Regency Orlando Grand Cypress; our favorite non-Disney hotel at Disney World.

Technically just off property, it overlooks Disney Springs, and you can see the EPCOT ball and even the Contemporary Resort in the far distance. We stay here three or four times a year, and our last stay was over New Year’s Eve. I’ll write more this weekend, but it was nice going to the theme parks once again, something we haven’t done in quite a while. This photo of DOS was taken at the EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival, which highlights the beauty of spring with beautiful flowers and topiaries, making the park even more beautiful and festive than it is. More pics of our Disney weekend in an upcoming post.

We also got to dine at Be Our Guest Restaurant in the Magic Kingdom, which was only our second time there, and quite a treat.

More blogs soon . . . Happy Thursday night, and I wish you an even happier Friday and weekend to come.
