It’s Wednesday morning and we just boarded our Delta flight to Atlanta. It’s 7:15am but we’ve already been up since 5am. We have a long journey ahead as we are flying to Hanoi, Vietnam today, via Atlanta, Seoul, and ultimately Hanoi.
Since we had an early flight, we stayed at the Orlando Airport Hyatt Regency last night. We actually packed light (for us) this trip. We are only checking one bag and taking two carry-ons for this 3 week journey to Vietnam, Cambodia, and Bangkok. We are taking an AMA Waterways cruise/tour, but will be spending 3 nights in Bangkok on our own prior to the tour.
We got our favorite room on the 10th floor, with a balcony overlooking the runway. If you follow this blog you will see we stay at the airport fairly frequently, usually on Sunday nights though if I have an early Monday flight for work. This stay was much more relaxing though, knowing we were going on holiday in the morning!
We had a nice dinner at Hemisphere’s on the 9th floor of the Hyatt, and were served by Sherry, whom we had last time and requested again this visit. Hemisphere’s overlooks the runway, although it was dark by 7pm when we ate.
Now we are aboard our Delta flight and have a slight ground hold due to thunderstorms in the Atlanta area. It’s 7:53am, and we should be leaving at 8:05 so I’m shutting down now.
To be continued . . .
